Edgar Leon Tucker, class of '64
Submitted by Dick Mosbarger on March 8, 2010 - 12:38pm.Edgar Leon Tucker, passed away at his home in Crescent City on February 17, 2010, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 64. Eddie was born July 24, 1945 in Prague, OK to Harold and Loye (West) Tucker. His family moved to California when Eddie was a baby. He grew up in Southern California in the communities of Piru and Fillmore where he had many cherished memories of living in these small towns.
Eddie graduated from Fillmore High School in 1964. Shortly after, he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego where he served his country for two years. He was honorably discharged from the military and settled in Bakersfield, CA. While living there, he worked as a delivery man for an office supply business and in the oil fields for several years.
When Eddie was 45 years old, he attended and graduated from the State of California Corrections Academy and became a Correctional Officer. He then made his home in Crescent City, where he worked as a Correctional Officer at Pelican Bay State Prison. He retired in 2005.
Eddie enjoyed fishing on the ocean, working in his yard and in his shop. He loved country music. He was known for his sense of humor. On June 6, 1998, he was united in marriage to Veronica Sena in Reno, NV.
He is survived by his wife, Veronica of Crescent City; sister Yvonne Olson and husband, Bob of Ventura, CA.; brother Jerry Tucker of Albany, OR; step-son Robert Sanchez and wife Mary of Brookings, OR; step-daughter Terri Sanchez of Eureka; step-daughter Mary Shaw of Crescent City; step-daughter Melissa Ford and husband Matt of Crescent City; step-son Troy Chacey of Crescent City and many nieces and nephews.
Eddie was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad, grandparents Bunny and Cora Tucker and Luther and Elizabeth West. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral services were held February 24 in Crescent City. Burial was in Exeter, CA.
