Dwayne Mackey

     Dwayne Mackey of Patterson, CA and former longtime resident of Fillmore, passed away on January 1, 2010 after a brief illness.

     Dwayne was born on October 11, 1953 to Clifford and Betty Jo Mackey.  He was raised in Fillmore and graduated from Fillmore High School with the class of 1971.  He married Donna Henderson and together settled in Fillmore and started their family.  Dwayne made a career as a maintenance manager and was widely known for his mechanical skills in the food industry.  Prior to his death, he was employed by Traina Dried Fruit, Inc. of Patterson.

     He loved to take long trips on his Harley and recently participated in the 100th Anniversary Harley Ride.  He also enjoyed fishing, camping, cruising and spending time with his famiy and friends.  He could always be heard whistling to whatever song was on his mind and will be remembered for his integrity and selflessness.  He would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  Dwayne was admired by all those who knew him.

     Dwayne is survived by his wife, Donna Mackey; two sons, Stephen of Las Vegas, NV and Nathan of Visalia, CA; his mother, Betty Jo Mackey of Fox, OK; brothers, Dan, David, Robert, Charles and Kenneth; and a sister, Judy Hill.  He also leaves six grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford.

     A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 9 at Wrights Family Residence in Bakersfield, CA.
