Charles A. Mozley Passes
Submitted by Dick Mosbarger on October 15, 2007 - 11:43am.On Monday, September 17, a life celebration was held at the Veterans Memorial Building with a full house of relatives, friends, former teachers and students of Charles A. Mozley.
A great many alumni members, those who were at Fillmore High School from 1954 until his retirement, had Charlie as a teacher or advisor as he taught Civics, History, Speech and Psychology, and he also directed the Senior plays. He announced the football and basketball games and announced the festival parades. Besides teaching at the high school, he also taught evening classes at Ventura College and Oxnard High School.
During his tenure at Fillmore High School, Charlie took a two year sabbatical leave and he and his wife Barbara spent that time in Washington D. C. where Charlie worked for Congressman Charles Teague, then for Congressman Robert Lagomarsino as a Legislative Assistant during the Watergate era.
After his retirement, Charlie wrote for the Fillmore Herald and had his own by-line, "As I See It".
Everyone who knew Charlie will remember him for his gentle ways and his great sense of humor as well as for what they learned in his classroom.
