November Flashbacks

The November issue of the Flashbacks was sent out last Friday, November 12, so if you haven't received yours yet, please contact the alumni office at 805-524-0416 or staff@fillmorehighalumni.com, so a replacement can be sent to you.  Remember to please let the alumni office know when you change addresses so we can keep up to date on where you are.  So far, 10 Flashbacks have been returned with changes of address on them.  And for those of you who "head south for the winter", please let us know where you will be and how long you will be there.  It really helps on getting Flashbacks to you.

Mailing addresses

Each time we send out the Flashbacks, a number of them are returned with "Not Deliverable" or "Temporarily Away" stamped on the envelope.  When they are "Not Deliverable", we cannot get a new address from the envelope, so we cannot contact the individual to whom we have sent the newsletter.  It is very important to us that we receive any changes in your address, either the mailing address or your e-mail address, so we can keep in touch with you and get each issue of Flashbacks to you.  The ones marked "Temporarily Away" are held until the next Flashbacks is sent out, but there have been cases where the next issue is returned with the same notice.  It would really help the alumni office if those of you who leave the colder climes of the U.S. for the warmer ones during the winter months would let us know where you will be and we will send your Flashbacks to you at that address, if possible, for the November and February issues.  I have a feeling that the post office does not forward mail, such as the newsletter, although it is sent First Class, or maybe some people do not have their mail delivery stopped while they are away.  Whatever the case, it is a great help to the alumni office if we are kept informed of your current addresses.

November Flashbacks

The November issue of Flashbacks is in the mail, and you should be receiving it any day now.  Once again, the great crew of Joyce Basolo, Linda Durand, Jane Johnson, Maxine Merry, Joleen Stethem and Em Wendel did a great job in getting all the Flashbacks ready to mail.  If you have any comments on this issue or if you have information you would like to have in the next issue, please send it to the alumni office, P. O. Box 385, Fillmore, CA  93016-0385, or e-mail it to staff@fillmorehighalumni.com.  The editor would like to hear from anyone who has memories of their days at Fillmore High or in Fillmore, or about anyone they wish to have remembered.  The Flashbacks is only as good as the information we receive from you alumni members.  Joe Scanlin and Florine Campbell Ernst sent in great articles about their memories of their days in Filllmore that are in the November issue.  We would really like to hear from many more alumni members, which will help make each issue of the Flashbacks interesting to more members.

We apologize for the poor quality of the photo on the back page of this issue.  It is the fault of the quality of our photo and not the printer's.  If anyone would like a copy of the class of 1944 in the second grade, please contact the alumni office and we will send you a copy in hopes that you can help us identify the rest of the people in the picture.

Flashback subscriptions

Thanks to all of you who have continued your membership in the Fillmore High Alumni Association by renewing your subscription to the alumni newsletter, "Flashbacks".  The latest issue was sent out on February 11, so if you have not received yours, please notify the alumni office at 805-524-0416 or by e-mail at staff@FillmoreHighAlumni.com.  There are still a number of members who have not renewed their subscription, so we hope you will do so soon.  This will be the last "Flashbacks" you will receive if you do not renew your membership.

February Flashbacks

The February Flashbacks were sent out on Wednesday, February 18, so they should be in your hands by now.  If not, please contact the alumni office at staff@FillmoreHighAlumni.com or 805-524-0416.  We do get some issues returned because the mailing label came off in handling at the post office, so we want to make sure that everyone who is a paid up member is receiving their Flashbacks.  We do appreciate hearing from everyone when they change addresses as it makes it a lot easier in mailing the newsletter.

If you have not renewed your membership for this year, please do so before the May issue comes out, as your name will be taken off the roster then.

February "Flashbacks"

The February issue of Flashbacks will be coming out the middle of February, so if you are a Life Member or a paid up yearly member, be looking for another great issue put together by Kathleen Penrod McCreary.  Some very interesting letters and comments from graduates of Fillmore High, as well as a picture from earlier years that many of you will find interesting.  The newsletter is only as good as you help make it,  by sending in your letters, comments and pictures.

We really enjoy hearing from all alumni members on what they are doing, the trips they have taken, or the former classmates they have met.  What you are interested in, we are interested in putting in the Flashbacks.

Flashback subscriptions

Renewals for 2009 subscriptions to the Flashbacks are arriving every day, and the alumni office greatly appreciates the response.  Forty six renewals have already been received and we hope that many more will come in during January so we can continue to send out the quarterly publications.  We try to include information that will be of interest to all graduates of Fillmore High and we encourage any who have information they would like to share with members of the alumni association to please send it in to: staff@Fillmore High Alumni.com.  The next issue will be coming out in February, so please send in your renewals so you won't miss it.

Flashbacks

All subscribers of Flashbacks should have your November issue in hand by this date, as they were mailed on November 15 after the very dependable crew of Jolene Stethem, Em Wendel, Jane Johnson, Maxine Merry and Linda Jackson, addressed, stamped and stuffed 960 issues into envelopes.   Kathleen McCreary did another great job of editing this issue, and she thanks all of you who sent in letters, stories, pictures and articles.  She had so much information that she could not get it all in this issue, but she promises to do so in the next one.  So if you like what you see in the Flashbacks, please keep sending in any information you would like to share with the rest of the Flashback readers.

Flashbacks

If any Flashbacks subscriber does not receive the November issue that was sent out on Saturday, November 15, please notify the alumni office at (805) 524-0416 or at staff@Fillmore High Alumni.com, as we are having some envelopes returned due to inferior labels.  We try to make certain that all labels and stamps are secure, but some get removed in the process of mailing.  So let us know and we will make sure that you receive this latest issue of Flashbacks.
